Stop it already!

Earlier on I read an article about a woman being jailed for illegally entering Singapore via sea. Then I went on to read the comments and it's not surprising for me to read comments that implicate the immigration officers. Few examples below;

"The border immigration officers should be replaced."

"Why was she able to sneak into Singapore successfully? Were our maritime patrols sleeping? Or the immigration officers sleeping? Or both the marine police and immigration officers sleeping together?"

Sometimes - no actually at all times - I do not understand if these people are reading the article right or they are just good at being keyboard warriors.

Part of the article read:-

"The documents said she sneaked into Singapore with two male accomplices in the early hours of August 19 aboard a catamaran hired.... The catamaran's master, Australian Todd Allan Wilson, was also arrested on board the vessel......Court documents said the woman entered Singapore illegally because she feared being arrested upon arrival following police reports filed against her by her estranged husband, who was also unidentified."

Which part of the article did it state that the woman actually cleared immigration? She sneaked in illegally because she feared that she will be arrested upon custom clearance. If she did clear the custom clearance then the article will read as "Woman TRIED to enter Singapore to bring back her child" instead right??

Do you people expect the immigration officers to be swimming around in the sea, waiting for some lunatic who is trying to enter Singapore? If the maritime patrols were sleeping then who was the one that arrested the master on board the vessel? Ghost is it??

The only reason why I'm getting worked up over this issue is because I used to be an immigration officer. At Woodlands Checkpoint. Fact is, only 25% of the Singaporeans and 15% of the PRs/Foreigners respect and appreciate the officers who are working their ass off (although the figures are just based on my assumptions). I understand perfectly how it feels like being misjudged time and again even when we're doing our jobs right.

Every single time when there's news on this kind of issues, the first one all of you point to are the officers. You all so good ah? Want to try and be an officer for just one hour during the peak hour at Woodlands Checkpoint?? We don't get the "Welcome to the Hell Command" welcome for no reason. I can bet that most of you give up halfway!

When someone got into Singapore by hiding in the car, your comment was "Sleeping ah? Never check is it?"
When we step on our games and do strict checks, your comment was "Check like real only. Faster lah, you jamming up the rest of the cars!"
When the barrier and the cat claws weren't responsive enough, your comment was "No use lah having this that cars still can pass thru"
When the police officers didn't stop the car by damaging it, your comment was "He stand only pose for what? Have baton in hand but scared to do anything??"
But what if he did do something? Your comment will be "He's so stupid! Why did he do that??"

Seriously, stop it already! Your comments aren't useful to the officers. We all know you yaya papaya only say whatever you want. Just stop disturbing someone else's rice bowl.

Period.
